Employee Free Choice Act - This is one of the most important pieces of legislation to come along in a long time.
President Obama has indicated that if this bill comes across his desk he will sign it. This legislation give protection to
workers that are involved in organizing effort in their work place. Currently 25% of the companies fire at least one
worker in organizing drives. Currently 60 million workers say they would like to be represented by a union in their
workplace but are afraid to try to organize. 77% of the public says that strong laws protecting workers' freedom to
form unions - without employer interference - are important. Allowing more people the freedom to organize and
thereby increasing union density is the one strongest thing that we can do to ensure we all have the decent wages
and benefits into the future and are able to leave those things for the next generation.
