Prevailing Wage requires that public projects be awarded to companies that pay the prevailing wage to the people
working on the project. This is already a requirement for all federal projects in Iowa as a result of the Davis-Bacon
act. This law would ensure that our local contractors can't be underbid by some contractor that is paying their
workers less than the local prevailing wage and, therefore, keep more work in the state for state residents.

Many jobs that could be going to worker in this state are being given to workers with less qualifications from other
states. Voting for this bill will help provide work for people in out area and in trying times like this we need to do
everything possible to keep our people employed. This is not union legislation as it does not require union
membership only that the workers be paid a fair wage.
